UPSIDE DOWN VALUES

Lack of understanding and fear are emotions common to ourselves as well as to the Apostles, especially if suffering is on the menu.  Self-importance can be high on our agenda too.

So what Jesus teaches them in today's Gospel is very pertinent to our own Christian lives.

Using the visual aid of a child, He reminds us that things work upside down in His Father's Kingdom:  the last are first; better to serve than be served; to welcome the weak and vulnerable is to have welcomed Himself and the Father in the here and now.
