The Challenge

Hands can welcome, serve, give; heal and caress; reconcile, toil, pray.
But hands can be cold, withdrawn, closed, fisted, greedy, violent,
destructive - such hands are already "cut off" from Christ.
Feet are for bringing good news, sympathy, kindness; for standing firm,
for mission.  But feet can run from responsibility, walk over, trample,
walk past need - such feet are already "cut off" from Christ.
Eyes can shine out with love from the hearts, through attentiveness,
caring, sharing.  But eyes can express hatred, prejudice and coldness.
Our hands, feet and eyes are made for God's service, but if
we live contrary to Christ's ways, we do not belong to him.

The Gospel, on Sunday 1st,  challenges us to take a long,
hard look at our attitudes towards each other.
