ENVELOPE COLLECTION BOXES

Due to repeated attempts to rifle our collection boxes at the entrances to the Church, we have decided to remove the boxes for the moment.  Parishioners have begun the practice of placing their envelopes in the collection baskets at the Offertory collection during Mass, and this has worked well.  For the Summer we ask you to continue to place your envelopes in the collection baskets.  All things considered, it is probably the most secure way of delivering your envelope.  We will review the use of collection boxes in the Autumn.  Meanwhile, we thank all for their cooperation and continued generosity to the Parish.

24 HOUR PERPETUAL EUCHARISTIC ADORATION - Hospital Chapel.  If you can spare one hour a week ph 9321232.

HOLY GHOST FATHERS will speak at all Masses next weekend.

"Let us say that things are not well with the world.  In fact, we could say with even greater accuracy: things are less well with our world than they have been in recent times.
There is drug abuse, racial tension, increased crime and a whole array of less-than-comfortable situations.  In the face of these gross and noxious facts, we must be persuaded that we have something to offer in alleviation.
We can somehow ease the griefs that beset our world.
We have some answers and solutions that derive from the teaching of Christ.
In other words we must be aware that we are not so much part of the difficulty as we are part of God's creative solution to it."
  - Taken from ‘Reflections ... path to prayer', by James Turro.

WORK FOR THE LORD

Today's readings should give us great inspiration in our belief in God and our love for Him.  Amos, when told he was not welcome in Bethel and to go home to his own place, said, "it was the Lord who took me from herding my flock and the Lord who said ‘go prophesy to my house in Israel'".

St Paul tells us, "before the world was made he chose us in Christ to be holy and spotless and to live in his presence."

We should also get inspiration from the twelve who left all that they owned and with just the clothes on their backs and a staff set out to preach the word of God and repentance; to cast out devils and cure the sick
