 "OUR LIVING CHURCH"

Some time ago the Parish circulated the recommendations made by Fr M McGreil SJ, as a result of a Diocesan survey which he conducted.  Parishioners were requested to list the four priorities for our parish, as they saw them.  There was roughly 25% of the questionnaires returned and the results were as follows:

Greatest Priority R12 ie support for teenagers so as to enable them to assent to their faith commitment and be facilitated to take a greater part in the pastoral life of the Parish.  This may involve re-examining liturgical celebration to make it more meaningful to this age, eg Gospel music etc.
2nd Priority R18 ie that the current services to the old, the housebound and those living alone receive greater support.  Because of the diversity in the diocese in relation to age spread, it might be useful to carry out an in-depth study of the needs of and resources available to older people in the different parishes.
3rd Priority R15 ie that a greater understanding of and respect for Jewish, Muslim and other non-Christian world religions be taught in the senior cycle catechetical programme so as to cultivate respect for the faith of immigrants from regions of the world where such beliefs are genuinely held.
4th Priority R13 ie that the Church's ministry to and pastoral care of families of broken marriages and faithful living in "irregular unions" require serious attention and merit ongoing pastoral support and monitoring at parish and diocesan level.

It is hoped to incorporate these priorities into our parish programme over the coming years
