DECISION TIME

Most of us are pulled in many directions on our life’s journey: the world, society, popularity.  Evil, selfishness, fear and sin are very much part of the world we live in, just as it was in Jesus’ time on earth.

He is very clear in today’s Gospel what He expects of us and what we must work towards whatever the cost.  When we live by Christ’s values we can expect rejection and unpopularity even among those closest to us.

Christ knew where He stood!  Both He and Jeremiah lived and died trying to speak out for the voiceless people; alleviate suffering and denounce evil.

To always do what is right is a lonely road and Christ asks us to travel that road with Him and not to compromise on what is right and just. When we keep our eyes fixed on Jesus and on His promises, it will be easy to stand for what is right and not to fear.  ‘Think of Jesus.....and you will not be discouraged or grow weary.’ Hebrews 12:3

There are people who will always come up with reasons why you
can’t do what you dream to do.  Ignore them!

CLONMINCH CEMETERY DAY

Mass and blessing of graves takes place today Sunday 19th, at 6.00pm in Clonminch.

Provision for wheelchair access to the cemetery is through the back entrance.  This is the same as the entrance to Collier’s Brook on Clonminch Rd, before the main entrance to the cemetery.  We ask that only cars carrying wheelchair users to enter the cemetery by this entrance.

We remember the recently deceased and those long dead - those who shared our childhood years, those who were our companions and friends during our adult years, those who shared our faith, our hopes for the future, those who gave us love and received our own, our relatives, friends, neighbours and those who have no one to pray for them.  As we share these memories we know that part of us has gone to eternity and part of them remains with us.

EXTRA MASSES FOR FLEADH
To facilitate the influx of people into the town for the All-Ireland Fleadh, there will be extra Masses in the Church of the Assumption on Sunday 26th August.  The times are as follows:  Usual Vigil 7.30pm; 8.00am, 9.00am, 10.00am, 11.00am (as Gaeilge and broadcast on radio na Gaeltachta), 12.00 & 1.00pm.
Please note especially change from 8.30am to 8.00am.

DIVERSITY NIGHT

As part of the Fleadh celebrations, a special night of prayer and culture for the different nationalities will be held in the Church of the Assumption on Tuesday 21st at 9.00pm.
All are welcome.
