BE READY - BI ULLAMH

This used to  be the motto of a well known  oragnisation for young people.  Be ready to help people, to do a kind deed or be vigilant for an opportunity, to do good.

In the Gospel today, there is a call from God to be ready, to go forward into the unknown.  Like Abraham, we are called to leave behind the old ways of sin and selfishness and put our trust in God and have faith in him.

Each day, we have countless opportunities of show our faithfulness as followers of Christ.  We must always be willing to be open to the wear and tear of caring for others.

‘When a person has a great deal given them, a great deal will be demanded of them.’ Lk 12:48

If you tell the truth you don’t have to remember anything!

EXTRA MASSES FOR FLEADH

To facilitate the influx of people into the town for the All-Ireland Fleadh, there will be extra Masses in the Church of the Assumption on Sunday 26th August.  The times are as follows:
Usual Vigil 7.30pm; 8.00am, 9.00am, 10.00am, 11.00am (as Gaeilge and broadcast on radio na Gaeltachta), 12.00 & 1.00pm.
Please note especially change from 8.30am to 8.00am.

'YOU MUST STAND READY...

‘You must stand ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour you do not expect’.  It has been said that people of faith must live their lives in the shadow of the Resurrection.  In other words, whatever we do, or wherever the journey of life takes us, we must never lose sight of the fundamental truth of Christ, that we are made for glory.  Of course, we continue to put our heart and soul into every thought and every deed of our lives, but we must never forget that we are a pilgrim people on the way to glory in God’s kingdom.  Remembering the Resurrection helps us to focus our minds on our destiny.  In the Gospel of today’s Mass, Jesus asks us to be ready for the call of glory.
