A good argument has no need of a loud voice.

“Living Gospel”

We come at the invitation of the One whom John the Baptist called the “Lamb of God”, to our greatest act of worship - the Eucharist.  Here we meet Christ present in the spoken Word and in broken Bread.  And from here we are challenged to be Christ’s presence to others in our world.

We become the Gospel word - Christ present to others - though our acts of kindness and love; in being as loving and as human as we can be for each other.  We can only be like this when we are attentive to Jesus present in the ordinary “bits and pieces” of our own days.

The Eucharist challenges us to receive and to become: to receive the Body of Christ so that we can become the Body of Christ; to receive the Gospel so that we can become the Gospel.  We can then be a gospel presence for others.  Maybe the only “gospel” some might read.

 PERPETUAL EUCHARISTIC ADORATION

The first reading of Sunday's Mass tells of the call of Samuel. He and Eloi spent the whole night in prayer in the temple of the Lord. For people of Israel, the Temple was the real dwelling place of God. They believed that the Almighty lived among humanity there. The sanctuary was the most holy place for the chosen people. For Christians, God lives among us in Christ. He left us the Sacrament of His Body and Blood, to remind us of the future promise of glory given to us in Christ. We have a wonderful grace in our parish in having perpetual adoration in the Hospital Chapel. Here, day after day and night after night, people unite themselves with Samuel, Eloi and countless souls who dedicated themselves to God in prayer in the presence of God.

There is an urgent need for volunteers to keep the vigil of prayer alive. Please offer yourself for this apostolate. It would be impossible for all the work that is being done in the parish to continue if it was not for the vast spiritual energy that is created by this prayer. If you wish to respond to this invitation contact  93 21232.  You may wish to commit yourself for a weekly hour for a month or two. Every little helps. As Samuel was called and responded "Here I am Lord, I come to do your will", will you?
