WELCOME BACK WEEKEND
The overall attendance at Masses last weekend was slightly up on the previous Sunday, so we think our invitation to come back was taken up by a small number of people.   What is clear is that a great deal of preparation and work will be required to make any similar weekend in the future successful.  We hope to have a similar weekend during the Season of Lent 2009.  It will require great cooperation and support between all.

DESIRE

The desires of our heart are very important to God and He always wants to fulfill them.  In the first reading the people of Israel prayed to God, with great desire, saying, “oh that You would tear the heavens open and come down.  In Your presence the mountains would melt”.  At a later date and in a way they could never have imagined, He answered their prayer.  He came as a naked baby, bedded in a manger.  No mountains melted in His tiny presence.  We could pray this Advent that He melt our hearts instead.

The people of Israel, although waiting for Him, didn’t expect Him at the time or the way He came.  It will be the same for us too and that is why Jesus says in today’s Gospel, “Stay Awake”.

The closer our relationship with Jesus the quicker we’ll recognise Him where and whenever He comes.

Be ready when opportunity comes.  Luck is the time
when preparation and opportunity meet.
