EMMANUEL - GOD WITH US

The Temple in Jerusalem was the House of God and a sign of divine protection for the Jews.

However, we Christians are privileged to have ‘God With Us’ in the person of Jesus Christ.

Jesus is not only with us, He lives within us, and we are His temple, the temple of the Holy Spirit.

As members of His Church we are also ‘the Body of Christ’ on earth.

St. Paul says: ‘Didn’t you realise that you were God’s temple and that the Spirit of God was living among you?’

Surely therefore, we must endeavour to be a worthy home for the Lord.

RELIGIOUS BOOK SHOP

Our religious goods shop is now open.  Have you paid a visit yet?  Book of the Week this week is: ‘The People’s Prayers’.  This booklet has been compiled by post primary pupils from Ennistymon Co Clare and is excellent.

The Shop will now open on Saturdays from 10.30am-5.00pm.  It will also open after all Masses on the weekend of Nov 22/23 so that all may visit to see the fare on offer.  Sunday opening however will not be the norm.

Next weekend’s Accord pre-marriage course will have a display of Wedding Candle sets and Papal Blessing parchments.

All types of Mass cards are now on
sale.  If you wish to have these cards signed, a priest will be available to sign them on request.

“THE CHURCH IS HOME TO EVERYONE”

On the weekend of November 22/23 we are inviting those who have not been coming to Mass regularly to join us on a “welcome  back” day.  We ask you to invite members of your own family or your friends to join us on this one Sunday with a view to being better tuned in to the celebration of Christmas.  The success of this weekend depends on you issuing the invitation to those who have been absent for some time.
The need for all to find hope through faith in Jesus Christ is more obvious than ever in these times of economic downturn, and we should be firm in promoting this aspect of our faith.  It may be noted that Barack Obama, in his acceptance speech, laid great emphasis on the need for people to be able to hope.  While he did not offer this thought in a Christ-centred context, we can feel confident that our hope in Jesus Christ is well founded, and those who lose that sense of hope are missing an essential quality from their lives.

Mass for the bereaved on Friday 14th at 7.30pm.
Please feel free to call into the Parish Centre on Thursday mornings during November where the Bereavement Support Team will be available to listen and talk with you.
