  The Power Within

The first reading today tells us of a small group of people to whom the Lord Jesus  gave the responsibility of  evangelising the world.  To do this they needed His presence - only to be told He would be leaving them when they needed Him most.
But He did not desert them.  He did not leave them orphans.  He promised and sent them the Holy Spirit; the third person of the Holy Trinity; the enlightener; the guide; the consoler; the comforter “who will be with you forever” (Jn 14:16).
When we were baptised and confirmed, we received the Holy Spirit who is really and truly active in our lives.  We need the Holy Spirit, a special kind of friend and helper, to develop our God-given gifts to the full, become Christ-like and enrich the lives of others.
We too are evangelizers in the world in which we live.  We do that best when we obey the commandments of Christ out of love for Him alone.
We are encouraged by the Holy Spirit to become a living reality of his presence, by being a loving, compassionate, caring, charitable face in our community.

“He who loves me will be loved by my Father and I too will love him....” (Jn 14:21)

,Don’t be afraid to take a big step if one is indicated.  You can’t cross a chasm in two small jumps.
 (David Lloyd George)

HEALING SERVICE

Eddie Stones and the Team from Clonfert, will conduct a Healing Service in Tullamore Church on Friday 2nd May at 7.00pm followed by Mass at 9.00pm.  All are welcome.

“.....Historically, God promised the seemingly impossible only to fulfill it: Abraham and Sarah in advanced age beget a son, down-trodden Hebrews gain freedom from their super-power slave-masters, an eagerly awaited Messiah comes, but in the most unexpected manner.  Killed and seemingly defeated, he rises from death to fulfill his mission.

Today, God’s promises continue to be fulfilled.  He blesses us with new life, with freedom from slavery to sin, with the promise and hope of resurrection.......”

(Fr Tom Cahill, Intercom April 08)
