ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS

The question being asked in this weekend's reading is, "Who will enter the Kingdom of God in Heaven?" The answer is "it is the person who does the will of God".

We can go out from the weekend mass feeling good and failing to realise that we have to carry the religion out into our homes for the coming week. The test is the effect it has on our homes, our workplaces and our relationships with neighbours and friends and even enemies.

Salvation is given free to the doers of God's will and not given to the hearers only.

Oh, Great Spirit, help me never to judge another,

JUNIOR PPC INVITATION

The junior PPC invite senior citizens of the parish to a cup of tea and a few games of Bingo, after the 10.00am mass on Tuesday 3, in St. Marys Parish Centre.

   FIRST COMMUNION

This time of year the focus of our parish is on the celebration of First Communion. This year we have celebrated First Communion on Sundays for the reason that we hope that this important moment in the life of our children is seen in a parish and community context. It may also challenge our own attitudes to Communion in our lives and invite us to renew our devotion to the Blessed Eucharist. Last sunday we celebrated the great Feast of the Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi) and this is a time to reflect on what we believe. When we receive Communion (the Body of Christ) we ourselves become part of the Body of Christ. This is what St. Paul meant when he wrote that the "bread we eat is a communion with the Body of Christ".
Afer Communion we are told to go in peace to love and serve the Lord. This is a challenge to us to be witnesses to Christ in our time, in our place and is the true basis of mission in the life of the Church,. True devotion to the Blessed Eucharist is to receive the Body of Christ with deep devotion and to be witnesses to Christ in our every day world.

PRAYER BEFORE AN EXAM

O wise God, I pray that my mind might be
rested, my body energized, and my spirit
inspired for the exam I must write.
Grant me peace and assurance so that I
might do the best I am able, regardless of
what that might be.

Be with my fellow students and may I be a
good example to them, offering reassurance
and confidence regardless of how I feel.
May I be honest and insightful, and able to
give a true record of what I have learned.
In the end, may any dissapointment be born with
grace, and any joy accompanied with humility.

I write this exam with Thee, O Lord Jesus Christ.
Amen.
