  BLESSINGS FOR PENTECOST

May the enthusiasm of the Spirit leap within you and help you live a vibrant life.

May the warmth of the Spirit be shared through your concern and care for all who need your love.

May the blaze of the Spirit’s courage help you to speak the truth and to stand up for respect, dignity and justice.

May the steady flame of the Spirit’s goodness within you convince you every day of the power of your presence with others.

May the spark of your relationship with the Spirit catch fire in the hearts of those with whom you live and work.

May you be mindful of the Eternal Flame within you.  May you rely on this source of Love to be your constant ally and steady guide.

(Joyce Rupp)

You’ll find that life is an uphill battle for the person who’s not on the level.
(Joan Welsh)

    FIRST COMMUNION

Congratulations to the children from St Joseph’s & Ballinamere schools, who receive the Eucharist for the first time today.  We wish God’s blessing on them, their families, friends and teachers and all who helped them on their faith journey to this special time.

ADMINISTRATION GROUP

Meeting, Wednesday 14th, 8.00pm, Parochial House.

PPC: RECENT MEETINGS

The April meeting was brought up to date with the progress of the building of our Parish Centre.  The 9th May was given as a date for completion of this work.
It was decided to install cctv cameras in the Church as a basic security measure.  This task is now in hand.
A review of the Constitution of the PPC will be undertaken by a special committee which will report in Sept/Oct.
There was general approval of the Holy Week liturgies and the fine attendances.

PARISH CENTRE

We are happy to report that the work on our Centre is now complete.  As from today (Sunday) it will be available for use on a limited basis.  All parish meetings (ie PPC, Admin, Baptism, etc) will now be held there and Parish Choirs will be welcome to use it for their practices.  The Parish Office will not move until telephone connections are put in place, but we hope the Centre will be fully operational inside the next month.  Today, happily, we can facilitate the First Communion children from St Joseph’s School for their customary cup of tea and refreshments there.  We also invite parishioners to come and view it after Mass during the coming week.  The PPC have agreed that it will be named St Mary’s Parish Centre, which retains the name of the old St Mary’s Hall.

CHRISTIAN BEQUESTS/PETITIONS

A flyer is now being circulated inviting people to send petitions/prayer requests, which, for a charge,  will be forwarded to Knock, Lourdes of Fatima.  Charges start at  €6 and go as high as  €15.  The organisation promoting this venture also propose to open a website in the near future.  We can only advise everybody that this practice can only diminish the meaning of Christian prayer.  We recommend that nobody should pay money to any agency as a means of promoting prayer.
