Rejoice in God's Love

The first image of God that comes to us is not usually of someone so in love with us, that He dances over us with joy and wants to heal us with His love.  Yet, this is the picture painted for us in today's first reading.

To avail of this healing it is necessary to acknowledge our need of it.  In other words, we must repent of the unloving things we do which damage ourselves and others.

Then, having accepted His forgiveness with gratitude, we make every effort to extend to each other the mercy He unfailingly extends to us.

ADVENT EVENING PRAYER:
Special Evening Prayer by young people Sunday 17th December, 5.30pm,

PREPARING FOR CHRISTMAS
There will be reconciliation at all Masses, in the Church of the Assumption
this weekend, 15th December.
Reconciliation Service on Thursday 21st at 7.30pm. Confessions,
Saturday 23rd, 2.00-6.00pm.

POINSETTIAS FOR CHRISTMAS:
Donations of poinsettias for the church for Christmas would be most welcome.
Please leave in sacristy during the week.

PARISH ENVELOPE COLLECTION:
This weekend we take the opportunity to thank all contributors to the parish envelope collection.  For 2007 we decided to invite contributors to take their envelopes to Mass rather than having them collected house to house.  We again thank the many people who worked as Collectors for so many years to the benefit of the parish.
Now that the Parish Centre project is about to get under way, it is vital that we have good support from all parishioners to our envelope collection and we hope to make a special appeal for wider support in early 2007 and look forward to a generous response.
In the meantime our immediate concern is the distribution of envelope boxes for ‘07.  Many of our collectors from previous years have generously agreed to cover their areas for this task, and again we thank them.  However, we are finding it difficult to find volunteers to distribute envelopes in the new estates.  Today we are asking those living in these estates, or those who are familiar with them to give their help in this matter.  The boxes for each area are laid out on the front seat of the church, and we invite you to have a look to see if you can help in any way.
