TROCAIRE
Around the world today more than 121 million children of primary school age are not in school, 54% of these are girls. In Nicaragua's rural areas 1 in 3 children do not attend school. In this country 21% of people over 10 years of age are illiterate and in rural areas this figure rises to as high as 40%. It is very difficult for a country like Nicaragua to end the cycle of poverty without access to education for the countries poorest people. By supporting Trocaire this Lenten season you will be helping these children to stay in education and have a real childhood with a real chance for the future.

"Lord help me to act justly, love tenderly and walk humbly with you, my God.

POLISH MASS on Sunday 19th March at 2.30pm, Church of the Assumption.

COMMUNION FOR COELIACS: The chalice is available at all Masses.  People are reminded not to dip the Host into the Chalice, as this contaminates the Precious Blood with gluten and therefore leaves it not suitable for coeliacs.

Please continue to pray for Fiona Pender , our parishioner who has been missing since 22nd August 1996

to the person in which it is stored
than to the person on which it is poured.

  THE TEN COMMANDMENTS

Today's reading from the Book of Exodus, is a timely Lenten reminder of the ten Commandments.

"The law by which we live gives life and brings God's love to the whole world.  The Commandments are put before us today as the basic morality.  The death and resurrection of Christ leads to an understanding of a deeper way through self-giving love". (Liturgical Calendar 2006).

Jesus emphasises the love of God and love of neighbour in summarising the Commandments:

" You shall love the Lord your God, with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind."

This is the first and greatest commandment.  And the second is like unto it:

"You shall love your neighbour as yourself" (Mt 22:37-39)
