A CALL TO PROCLAIM THE GOOD NEWS
After the Resurrection Jesus told the Apostles, “Go out to the whole world and proclaim the Good News”. Since his experience on the road to Damascus Paul has orientated all his vital powers towards his witness to the Risen Jesus. Paul no longer lives for himself. He no longer lives for happiness nor success apart from Christ. “The life I now live, I am living in faith, faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave himself for me”, (Gal 2:20). Paul is sure of God’s call and is conscious of being sent each day, because the time is short. “In fact preaching the Gospel gives me nothing to boast about, because I am under compulsion, and I should be in trouble if I failed to do so”, (1 Cor 9:16). From now on, Paul will admit no activity that runs parallel to his apostolate. He is an ambassador for Christ everywhere and at every moment, even in the powerlessness of his prison. Are we conscious of God’s call and of being sent each day to proclaim the Good News? We too, are ambassadors of Christ!

MINISTERS OF THE EUCHARIST The new rota is now available from the Sacristy. Please collect yours.
SEEING YOUR LIFE THROUGH THE LENS OF THE GOSPELS Mark 1:14:20 ‘The time is fulfilled’ - this is a decisive moment in the life of Jesus. His public ministry is about to begin. Recall turning points in your own life when something new happened and with hindsight you can say the time was ripe for it to happen, ‘the time was fulfilled’. ‘Repent and believe the good news.’ Jesus called for a change of heart, as a response to the Good News. A new level of faith in yourself leads to a new of seeing yourself. A new way of understanding God leads to a conversion in how we relate to God, a change of heart. A growth in awareness of who we are can lead us to a new level of self-confidence, another change of heart. Can you recall times when ‘good news’ led you to a change of heart? The Spirit of God who was at work in Jesus calling the disciples continues to work in our day and in our lives. In the everyday events of our own lives we can see the grace of God at work. When have you had what you would consider a ‘call experience’ that led you to a different style of life? Who was the ‘Jesus person’ through whom the call came to you? To whom have you been a ‘Jesus person’ in this way? (Fr Sylvester O’Flynn OFM Cap, Intercom Jan 2009)
