"All that we have  All that we are"

The reckless generosity of the widow in today's Gospel, who gave all she had, is a symbol of what Jesus Himself will do - give everything as an offering to God.  Jesus hopes that we, His followers, will take our cue from her example and be equally generous with our own resources.

Our resources are not always to be measured in money.  We are called on to give our time, our talents, our understanding.  We are asked to give from our substance, which always hurts, because we feel all spent after it.  We feel we have nothing left to give, but this is the giving that counts with Jesus.

Every day we are called to be generous with our love, our forgiveness, our patience, our resources.  The GOOD NEWS is, that when we act out of love, Jesus will be our constant support.

Minutes PPC Meeting 7 Nov
Vigil Mass Time: The last 8.30pm Mass will take place on 25th Nov.  After much discussion and many contributions, it was decided by a show of hands that the Vigil Mass will be at 7.30pm, commencing 1st weekend of Advent Sat 2nd Dec.  It was also agreed that this will be the time for all vigil Masses throughout the year, ie 1st Fri & holy days.
Those who have already booked the 8.30pm Mass for a 1st Anniversary, should contact the parish secretary as soon as possible in order to reschedule.
Junior PPC: Training day was attended by 16 young people.  They have joined a folk group and they sang recently at the Healing Mass and will sing at 1.00pm Mass Christmas Day.  Hoped to have a formal commissioning in the near future.
Parish Centre Fundraising:  Methods of increasing contributions to the parish discussed by Core Committee: envelope collection; direct debits; golf classics; bucket collections at Fleadh Ceoil, National Ploughing Championship, etc; VAT refund on PAYE; interest free loans.
Need to sell the concept of the parish centre to the people.  Core committee suggested a ‘Mail Shot' to homes in the parish in early January.  Press conference and talks to church goers also mooted for Spring 07.  Further meeting to take place later this month.
