TARGET
St Luke says: "Anyone who does not carry their cross and come after me cannot be my disciple".
Successful business people plan for their "does" and "don'ts". They set targets to reach, and work hard to achieve them.
If our faith target is to enter God's Kingdom, it cannot be done without effort and commitment to discipline and prayer.
We must work hard at giving up or giving away anything that comes between us and God, and eventually our ultimate target of entering His Kingdom.

10th Anniversary Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration:
Saturday 11th is the 10th Anniversary of Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration in our parish. To mark this occasion, Mass will be celebrated in the Church of the Assumption on Friday 10th at 7.30pm. All are welcome.
Gospel Choir:
The Gospel choir resumes at 1.00pm Mass on Sunday next, 12th.
25th Anniversary of the Pope's Visit:
The following arrangements are being put in place to commemorate the 25th Anniversary of Pope John Paul's visit:
- The main national celebration will take place at Clonmacnoise on Sunday 19th Sept at 3.00pm.
- On Wednesday 29th Sept,(date of Pope's arrival) commemorative Mass is being celebrated in each Diocese. In this Diocese it will be in the Cathedral in Mullingar at 7.30pm, with the Diocesan Choir present.
- On Friday Oct 1, all parishes are asked to arrange for a special commemorative Mass involving apostolic groups in the parish.
The words of the Pope at Limerick gives us food for thought, not least his comment that Ireland seemed to be living again the temptations of Christ ‘with Ireland being asked to prefer the kingdoms of the world and their splendour to the kingdom of God'. In the light of all that has happened in the intervening 25 years, there is a strong prophetic ring to the words he spoke on that occasion.
