TABOR’S INVITATION: LISTEN TO HIM The identity of Jesus is affirmed on Tabor: “This is my beloved son; listen to Him!” God designates Jesus as the object of his special favour, grace and love. The praying Jesus is at the centre of the scene. In the presence of the apostles he is transfigured; his clothes became dazzling white. The externals reflect the inner experience; as Jesus prays he is transfigured! To be a disciple of Jesus is to listen to him. We are invited to listen and to open our heart to the Word of God. If we listen, we enter into communion with the glorified Jesus who is always sharing his glory with us: “the glory which you have given me I have given to them.” The mountain suggests a place of close proximity to God. Where do I feel closest to God? Does my time in prayer alter my appearance; my attitudes; my actions; my thoughts? On Tabor Lord you revealed the fullness of your son’s glory to his friends. Continue to reveal yourself to us. Transfigure our hearts and lives with your presence. Take to yourself all who have died and make them glorious. Amen. Kindness consists of loving people more than they perhaps deserve. CALLING ALL YOUNG PEOPLE Evening Prayer with a Difference The Gospel according to Matthew presented by young people of the parish, in song, dance & mime, Sunday 8th, 5.30pm, Church of the Assumption. All welcome. TROCAIRE’S LENTEN CAMPAIGN That we can call God our father tells us the kind of relationship we can have with our God. He cares for his as a father cares for his children. This second Sunday of Lent, we remember parents as they work so tirelessly and often against the odds to care for their children. Khalid the little boy on the front of this year’s Trócaire box, is one of these children. Khalid is just one of almost one million Somalis who have been forced from their homes due to ongoing conflict and violence, where one in five children die before reaching the age of five. Please support Trócaire's Lenten campaign this year. In doing this, you help the poorest parents of our world care for their children as God cares for us his children.
