Listen to JesusToday’s Gospel shows us Jesus the great storyteller, who is teaching the crowd and asking them to listen. He tells of the sower sowing the seed and the different types of soil he encounters – some barren and some good. The seed falling on these different soils can be the varied responses we make to his Word. If the seed doesn’t get our full attention by finding a home in our lives, it withers and dies. Jesus wants us to listen, and to accept the challenge of what he is asking us, even when there are some truths we would choose not to hear. Reaping the rich harvest of God’s goodness depends on our openness to receive his Word. There is good soil in every human heart.
To be truly human is to be conscious of human weakness, but confident that it can be overcome. – Romano Guardini
I SEE HIS BLOOD UPON THE ROSE
I see his blood upon the rose And in the stars the glory of his eyes, His body gleams amid eternal snows, His tears fall from the skies. I see his face in every flower; The thunder and the singing of the birds Are but his voice – and carven by his power ‘Rocks are his written words. All pathways by his feet are worn, His strong heart stirs the ever-beating Sea, His crown of thorns is twined with every thorn, His cross is every tree. (Joseph Mary Plunkett)
Welcome Service There will be a welcome service for Rev Rosemary Lindsay, new minister, in Methodist Church, Sun 13th July at 7.30pm. All are welcome.
A WORD OF WELCOME A warn welcome to all visitors to our parish. If you are home on holidays or find yourself here for the first time, we hope your stay among us will be refreshing.
One Word Only …We may need convincing that despite the evil that occurs in our beautiful world, God’s word is still active and potent. It operates in ways we just can’t fathom. Brings results in most unexpected ways. It’s a word spoken softly that breaks no silence, yet is far more powerful than silence could ever be. It’s a word we need to train to listen fro – in any place, at any time, form anyone. It’s a word that speaks not to the ear, but to the heart (Fr Tom Cahill, Intercom July 08) MASS INTENTIONS Mon 14: 7.45 Maura & Alo O’Brennan. 10.00 Billy Kelly, O’Brien St. Tues 15: 7.45 Mary Dunne 10.00 Patrick Doyle, Pearse Park Wed 16: 7.45 Jack McGuinness, Horseleap 10.00 Harry & Christina O’Shea, Callary St Thurs 17: 7.45 Mary O’Neill, Adams Villas & Mary Toohey 10.00 Teresa McCabe, Clara Road Fri 18: 7.45 John, Margaret & Noel Lowry 10.00 Mary & Thomas Bracken, Arden Rd Sat 19: 7.30 Dan Boland, Arden View, Mon Mem Sun 20: 8.30 Delia Bracken, Park Ave 10.00 Con Leavy, Ballyduff & Colette Grennan 11.30 Christina Carroll, 1st Ann & John Carroll, Marian Place 1.00 O.N.E.
