Freely Given

Before God asked Our Lady if she would accept His call for her life, she was assured that she was favoured and beloved.  Her answer was a joyful “yes - my soul rejoices”.
In the first reading God reminded His people that He carried them in love, like an eagle her young - their response, “we will do whatever you ask”.  At Jesus’ baptism he was assured that he was beloved by the Father.  His answer - an unbounded yes.  His mission to show how great is the compassion and love of the Father for each one of us.

With that assurance, what would be our best answer?  To make visible in our lives Jesus’ spirit of compassion.  It would witness to a weary world and assure ourselves that love does indeed exist, keeping in mind the commission in today’s Gospel, “Freely you have received, freely give”.

Christ helps us to face the music, even when we don’t like the tune.

First Communion

Congratulations to the children from Durrow NS who received the Eucharist for the first time last Monday.  We wish God’s blessing on them, their teachers and all who helped them on their faith journey to this special time.

Now that the long season of 1st Communions in our parish has come to an end, we would especially like to thank all those in the hospitality group who did great work providing refreshments in our new parish centre,  for all the children and their families.

FUND RAISING FOR PARISH CENTRE

As part of our fundraising campaign to alleviate the costs of our now finished Parish Centre, a Golf Classic is being held, between Esker Hills and Tullamore golf courses, on Friday 20th June.

While we have enough teams entered, there is still time for you to sponsor a tee box for €100 or to make a donation to the Parish Centre Fund.  Please send your donations to: Parish Secretary, Parochial House, Tullamore.  All donations will be gratefully accepted as every euro received will help reduce the cost.

PARISH WEBSITE
Pope Benedict has recently published a booked entitled “Jesus of Nazareth”, where he relates Jesus Christ to our own times and outlines how he thinks we should understand his presence in our lives.
