PARISH ACTIVITIES

 CONFIRMATION

Congratulations, best wishes and prayers go to our young people who were confirmed yesterday, and to their parents and families.  Well done also to teachers, lay workers, priests and all who have contributed to the preparation of this important occasion.

 PARISH CENTRE

Tender forms have now been sent out to interested contractors.  The closing date for the return of forms is 9th May and the contract will be finalised as soon as possible after that date.  The hope is that work will commence by the end of May and the estimated time for completion of the work is 10 months.
Many people have expressed a positive interest in supporting the project through increased contributions, and also commencing to contribute through our parish envelope scheme.  It is hoped that clarification of our fund raising proposals will be possible in the next few weeks through representatives of the Finance Committee/PPC speaking at all Masses on a given Sunday.
An application for support from Government Funds in recognition of the social services to be provided at the centre is being processed at this time.  We hare hopeful of a positive response.

POLISH MASS next Sunday, 29th, at 2.30pm in the Church of the Assumption.  All welcome.

Impossible

There are times when things seem utterly impossible - it is then we need to remember there is someone we can call on.  He may not come in the guise we expect.  In the Gospel, Jesus stood on the shore but the disciples didn't realise it was He.  However, if we look back on the circumstances in our life when we asked His help, we can see the result and say, like Peter, "It is the Lord".

This is one reason we need to take a little space now and then to reflect on the things that happen in our lives.  It reassures us that He is alive and present with us on our journey.  He will teach us to love.  It seems to be the only question we will be asked at the end, "Do you love me?" - love God and ones neighbour as oneself.
