DIOCESAN APPOINTMENTS

Bishop Deenihan has announced Diocesan changes. Included is the appointment of Fr. Joe Campbell to Tullamore as curate. We will be very glad to welcome Fr. Joe to our community. He spent some time here as a deacon and he has served in Drogheda and Mullingar parishes. We are very fortunate to be getting an extra priest and please continue to pray for vocations to the priesthood and religious life.

CHRISM MASS

The Chrism Mass will take place in Mullingar Cathedral on Thursday 27 May at 7.00pm. As numbers will be limited due to Covid-19 restrictions, admission will be by ticket only for members of the faithful so that we avoid the situation of having to turn people away on the night.   If you wish to attend, contact the Diocesan Office ph. 0449348841/email: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. SEEING YOUR LIFE THROUGH THE LENS OF THE GOSPEL

John 15:26-27, 16:12-15

Jesus recognized that his disciples were not capable of taking in everything at once. Wisdom about life comes slowly and sometimes painfully. Hearing the ‘right’ answer at the ‘wrong’ time does not help us. We need to be ready and open to receiving the truth if it is to have any impact. Perhaps you can recall some occasions when it was the ‘right’ time for you to learn a truth about life. Remember your experiences of growth in understanding.

The Spirit can guide us to understanding in different settings. Understanding may have come to you when you were praying or reflecting on your life. Perhaps the Spirit guided you through the words of someone close to you, or through the words and actions of people you read about or saw on TV. Remember and give thanks for the people who have helped you to greater wisdom in life.

The Spirit also speaks to us through ‘the signs of the times’. The church has lived through a troubled decade or two, and society has been through a turbulent year with the pandemic. How do you think the Spirit is speaking to us at this time?

Wisdom is handed on from person to person, and from generation to generation, within families, within communities, etc. Are there any particular gems of wisdom that you cherish from what has been handed on to you? What wisdom would like most of all to pass on to those close to you?

Given the COVID-19 precautionary measures, our churches are inaccessible for the faithful. Participation in the daily sacraments is beyond reach for them. Shalom World TV, a Catholic media ministry of the Shalom Ministries, is an official partner with the Vatican and is authorized to telecast papal liturgies directly via its free high-definition television channel. Shalom World is committed to producing free yet high-quality Catholic content such as Daily Mass, devotionals, shows, music, youth programs, children’s programs, conventions, retreats, and cultural exchange segments. The programming is absolutely free and can be watched live or on-demand. The most recent addition, in response to COVID-19, is a 4th channel to the existing 3 channels, for exclusive live telecast of daily Holy Mass around the clock, with special prayers for an end to coronavirus .

We are broadcasting Daily Mass Live from Saints Peter and Paul's Church, Portlaoise, Co. Laois at 10:00 am everyday during this challenging time.

Bishop Denis Nulty, Diocese of Kildare and Leighlin is our patron in Ireland  and Shalom World is endorsed by Catholic leaders from around the globe .
