DIOCESAN APPOINTMENTS

Bishop Deenihan has announced Diocesan changes. Included is the appointment of Fr. Joe Campbell to Tullamore as curate. We will be very glad to welcome Fr. Joe to our community. He spent some time here as a deacon and he has served in Drogheda and Mullingar parishes. We are very fortunate to be getting an extra priest and please continue to pray for vocations to the priesthood and religious life.

CHRISM MASS

The Chrism Mass will take place in Mullingar Cathedral on Thursday 27 May at 7.00pm. As numbers will be limited due to Covid-19 restrictions, admission will be by ticket only for members of the faithful so that we avoid the situation of having to turn people away on the night.   If you wish to attend, contact the Diocesan Office ph. 0449348841/email: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. SEEING YOUR LIFE THROUGH THE LENS OF THE GOSPEL

Mark 16:15-20

Jesus had rebuked the apostles for their lack of faith.  Despite this he commissioned them to bring the Good News to the whole world.  Witnesses to the Good News do not have to be perfect.  There is encouragement to us in this.  The lockdown during the coronavirus pandemic prompted many to reach out to others in new and welcome ways.  To whom have you brought good news?  Who has been a messenger of good news to you?

Jesus then tells them that their witness will have quite dramatic effects, helping people to overcome demons, bring them peace and healing.  Things happen when we have belief in ourselves and in God.  Strong faith can enable us to meet and overcome difficulties, in ways that waverers cannot do.  Perhaps you had experience of this?

The ascension marked the end of the visible presence of Jesus with the disciples, but he would be with them in other ways.  ‘The Lord worked with them’.  Sometimes we can experience that death is not the end of the presence of someone significant to us.  We can experience the unseen presence and influence of a parent, a friend, or an inspiriting leader, after they have died.  Has this happened for you?  Have you also experienced the hidden presence of the Lord working with you?

Shalom World TV, a Catholic media ministry of the Shalom Ministries, is an official partner with the Vatican and is authorized to telecast papal liturgies directly via its free high-definition television channel. Shalom World is committed to producing free yet high-quality Catholic content such as Daily Mass, devotionals, shows, music, youth programs, children’s programs, conventions, retreats, and cultural exchange segments. The programming is absolutely free and can be watched live or on-demand. The most recent addition, in response to COVID-19, is a 4th channel to the existing 3 channels, for exclusive live telecast of daily Holy Mass around the clock, with special prayers for an end to coronavirus .

We are broadcasting Daily Mass Live from Saints Peter and Paul's Church, Portlaoise, Co. Laois at 10:00 am everyday during this challenging time.

Bishop Denis Nulty, Diocese of Kildare and Leighlin is our patron in Ireland  and Shalom World is endorsed by Catholic leaders from around the globe .
