IRISH CATHOLIC BISHOPS' CONFERENCE
Welcoming a return to full public worship
STATEMENT OF THE SPRING 2022 GENERAL MEETING
During the Season of Lent, we encourage everyone to return to Sunday and weekday Mass in our churches, welcoming each other back as we gather once more together. From Easter Sunday, 17 April, this will once again be deemed an essential expression of faith for all in our Church in Ireland. As always, those whose health is vulnerable or who are unwell will not be under any obligation to attend Mass and should keep themselves safe and pray at home until they are better.

EASTER GRATITUDE
After the dark days of Lent, we have arrived into the springtime of Easter. It has been most encouraging to witness the number of people who attended daily Mass during the season of Lent. I thank those who have prepared and participated in our Easter ceremonies. These are all signs of hope and light as we celebrate the presence and work of the Lord among us.
On behalf of the parish team, I wish all of you every blessing and peace this Easter.

APPEAL FOR UKRAINE
The conflict in the Ukraine has caused much hardship, suffering and death in recent days. Many people have been asking their clergy what can be done.
Our Diocese has an excellent relationship with the Diocese of Iasi (in Romania) and three priests from there are working here. Iasi is situated near the Ukrainian border and is currently struggling to cater for the thousands of Ukrainian refugees that are arriving there. Bishop Deenihan been in contact with Bishop IosifPaulet, the Bishop of Iasi, and he has offered him our support. Bishop Paulet acknowledged that assistance is badly needed, which would be gratefully received and would help to alleviate the appalling conditions that the people who are fleeing the Ukraine find themselves in.
If any individual wishes to contribute to this worthy cause, they may do so by leaving a donation into any or our church sacristies or into the Parish Centre. Needless to say any such money would be spent, in its entirety, alleviating the suffering of the Ukrainian refugees in Romania.

VOCATIONS NOTICE
Jesus steps into the lives of the disciples to make them agents of God’s presence in the world (cf. Lk 5:1-11). Peter is dejected because the fishermen’s work produced no catch. At the word of Christ, their nets fill to breaking point. Peter had put his faith in this “Master” that spoke with authority. He says, “At your word, I will let down the nets” (Lk 5:5). After the miracle, he calls him “Lord.” This calling of the disciples tells us that the Lord asks every vocation to the Priesthood to fill the nets of the Church with souls who know him. He asks us to put out into the deep and place our faith in him. Like Peter we do not have to be perfect but place our trust in his will.
