OF THE GOSPEL (Matthew 13:1-23)

1. Jesus uses parables to make people think about their own responses to his message. As you read this parable you may recognise that at different times you have been like each of the different types of soil. As you recall times when you presented fertile soil for the word of God, what helped you create that receptive atmosphere? What lessons for life do you get from that?

2. Parents with children, teachers with pupils, speakers with listeners, are all like sowers in a field where the preparation of the soil is up to another – the child, pupil or listener. They can sow the seed but cannot guarantee that it will bear fruit. At times there may be a temptation not to try any more. The challenge is to sow in hope. When have you been surprised by the harvest you have reaped?

3. ‘We are wasting our time here’ may sometimes be the apparent wisdom in a group. Have there been times when you have gone against this apparent wisdom and seen your efforts bear fruit?

"Be still and know that I am God". Lord, may Your
spirit guide me to seek Your Loving presence more
and more. For it is there I find rest and
refreshment from this busy world. Amen.

In this time of restricted numbers permitted in Church, there will be an additional Vigil Mass at 5.00pm, commencing on Saturday, July 11th.

Entrance to both Churches for all Masses (Tullamore & Durrow) will be strictly on presentation of ticket and doors will open 20 minutes before Mass time.
Tickets are not needed for 7.45am weekly Mass.

Tickets will not be available at the doors and must be collected from the Parish Centre during the opening times Mon-Fri 8.30am – 5.00pm and Sat. 2.00-4.00pm.

The Sunday Mass obligation continues to be relaxed and people who are unwell should not come to church. Masses will continue to be available on Webcam and Parish Radio.

It is intended to discontinue the evening Rosary and to have it restored to before the 10.00am Mass each day commencing on Monday 13th July.

BAPTISM: Baptisms have recommenced and booking can now be made at the Parish Office.
CONFESSIONS: Confessions will be from 2.00 - 3.00pm on Saturdays.
SACRAMENT OF MARRIAGE: To book the Church for weddings, contact the Parish Secretary.
FIRST COMMUNION: We know that many of our young people are very disappointed that they could not have their First Communion in May this year. When schools reopen we intend to have the ceremonies  in September and early October.

Due to ongoing restrictions it will not be possible to have our annual Mass in Clonminch this August. If restrictions are eased we will try to reschedule and have the Masses celebrated in both cemeteries in September. Proposed dates being Durrow on the 13th and Clonminch on the 20th. These dates are provisional and are subject to change and are dependent on the easing of current restrictions.
