Halloween means ‘the evening of the Saints’ and while it has been re designated by culture as a night of goblins and ghouls, the whole idea of Halloween is the preparation for the great feast of All Saints Day November 1st.
To mark this, there is a party for kids in the Parish Centre, 5.30-7.30pm on Thursday 31st.  October, Fun, food and games, with a little dash of prayer!  Children are invited to come along dressed as…. their favourite Saint!

November is the month when we pray especially for the dead.November 1st is the feast of all the saints & Nov 2nd is the Commemoration of the faithful departed.

Both feast days remind us that our life on earth will come to its end, & the hope & promise of eternal life with God is there for all of us.

An important tradition in Ireland is writing down the names of our departed friends &  relations on the Altar List of the Dead.  The list is compiled every November & Mass is offered for those on it at all List of the Dead Masses in November & every first Friday for the coming twelve months.

Take time with your family to write the list.  Think of family, friends & neighbours over the years.  Particularly remember those who have no one to pray for them. Dead lists are available in the church.  Please fill one out, if you would like to do so & drop into the Sacristy or the Parish Centre over the coming weeks.

This year we will have a ‘wall of comfort’ in the Church where you will have a chance to write names of loved ones gone before us as a reminder of our commitment to pray for them.

MASS TIMES ON FEAST OF ALL SAINTS, Friday 1st.   November:

ALL SOULS DAY, Saturday 2nd November
MASS TIMES: 10:00 am, 1:10 pm Offered for Altar List of the Dead.

The 10:00 a.m. Mass on Saturday 9th. will be for all the families in our Parish who have lost a loved one during the year. It is the teaching of the Church and the practice of our ancestors to remember the dead during this month.
Birth, growth and death are of the natural order.  Each of us will die some day as it is part of God’s plan for us.  Let us follow God’s command and pray for the souls of the dead who have gone before us – our relatives, neighbours, ancestors and all the holy souls. May God increase their glory, ease their pain and grant them remission of their sins.
We can also visit a church or cemetery during this month. It is comforting to remember that our relatives are not gone from us but before us and one day we will be with them in Paradise.
