Tullamore Charity Tractor Run

The 11th. annual Tullamore Charity Tractor Run took place on Friday 28th. December,

Over 400 tractors, classic cars, lorries and vintage entries took part in this year's annual tullamore Christmas tractor run, making it the most successful ever staged. 
That's according to chief organiser, P. J. Lynam, who said he was overwhelmed with the turnout which exceeded all expectations.  The unseasonably mild weather was the chief factor in increased attendance with entrants travelling from as far afield as Kilcock for the post Christmas spectacle. 
Hundreds of spectators and enthusiasts thronged into Market Square from early morning to get a closer look at the vehicles prior to their departure about noon.  
Tractors began arriving early in the morning with one keen Massey Ferguson 165 owner having brought his vehicle the night before to ensure it had a prime place in the calvacade.  
Entrants and spectators were treated to entertainment prior to the start by D. J. Paul Fox and the Celtic Blondes dancing duo while breakfast rolls were served courtesy of Leavy's Centra.  
To date, over €200,000 has been raised for cancer services locally by the organizers of the annual run over the past 10 years.  
The route goes through Ballydaly, Wood-of-O, Kilmurry Cross, Rathdrum, Ballycommon, Clonmore, Springfield, Cappincur and back to Tullamore.
