05 December 2020
Dear God, I spend so much time reliving yesterday or anticipating tomorrow
That I lose sight of the only time that is really mine, the present moment.
You give today one moment at a time. That's all I have, all I ever will have.
Give the faith which knows that each moment contains exactly what is best for me. Amen.

Christmas Lights

Surely Christmas is on the horizon when cribs are assembled and the coloured lights are switched on!  This was the case last Sunday in Tullamore when local clergy blessed the crib in O'Connor Square and the Lights Committee organised a street fair and other exciting events leading up to the official switching on of the Christmas lights. <<Click Here>> for pictures and more.

The Cenotaph in O'Connor Square remembers all people from Offaly who died in the First World War. Midland Counties and Kildare Branch Royal British Legion ROI have organised a Ceremony of Remembrance and Wreath Laying to be held at the memorial on Sunday 26th. at 2.30 p.m. There will also be a short inter-denominational service and a talk by local historian, Michael Byrne.

The JPPC, in conjunction with “Indian Immersion” project in Colaiste Choilm, will run our annual Spirit of Christmas cake sale and fun event in the Day Chapel after all Masses next weekend. Donations of cakes would be much appreciated. These can be left into Parish Centre by Friday 1st. December.

Members of Offaly County Council expect to receive the final version of the renewal plans for the town centre including the refurbishment of O'Connor Square in time for their December meeting. Different versions of the plan have caused a lot of controversy locally over the past year or so. However, the council are hopeful that the current plan will finally meet with universal approval.

Sustainable energy improves people’s lives, brings comfort and convenience, and addresses environmental challenges. It is also beneficial to our economy, creating and protecting jobs.
