Meath Diocesan Choir

The Meath Diocesan Choir was formed in 1999 for the purpose of supporting music in the liturgy in churches throughout the diocese. Membership comprises individuals and members of local parish choirs.

Practices are held in Navan and Mullingar in preparation for events. Each year the choir participates with locals in a carol service somewhere in the diocese and at the diocesan pilgrimage to Knock.

Other events include pilgrimages to Lourdes, Rome, Lough Crew and Lough Derg. The choir accompanied Liam Lawtown in Maynooth in the first televised Mass of the millennium.

Last year the choir sang with Fr Ray Kelly at the Olympia in Dublin.  Over the years a vast repertoire of sacred music has been compiled. New members are always welcome.

The SHS Choir comprises both junior and senior students. The choir, under the direction of Regina McCarthy, has won many accolades at festivals throughout the country such as the Feis Cheoil, Cork International Choral Festival, Sligo Feis Cheoil, Sligo International Choral Festival, Kilcoole Music Festival, Navan Choral Festival, Arklow Music Festival, Wesley Interschools Music Festival and Feis Maitiu Cork.

The choir performs a broad range of repertoire from sacred to secular and participates in many community events in the locality.

St Colmcille's Church Choir, Durrow

A central part of St Colmcille's Church in Durrow is its active choir. Under the direction of Breda Mannion and trained by Andrius Kozlovskis, with organist Devina Sheridan and guitarist John O'Connell, the choir has gone from strength to strength over the past few years.

The choir recently returned from a performance at the Vatican. The choir has also appeared on RTE's Sunday morning religious ceremonies and has taken part in St Catherine's Parish Choir's concert, the Church of the Assumption Mission Week and many other events.
