30 November 2020

I pause for a moment and think of the love
And the grace that God showers on me:
I am created in the image and likeness of God;
I am God's dwelling-place.

On behalf of the priests of the parish and the team I wish the people of the parish every peace and blessing this Christmas time.  A warm welcome home to those who have managed to travel and welcome to those who are visiting our parish this Christmas.  We also remember family members and friends who are in other parts of the world; we are separated by distance but united in thought and prayer.

It is a dark time of the year and in many ways this reflects the struggles of so many people.  People who are displaced from home, people living in horrifically violent situations, and the struggles of many people looking for a home and being forced to live on the streets.  It would be very easy to despair in the face of the magnitude of these situations.

And then there is Christmas. A Saviour is born. There is a bright light.
There is a way forward. Christ has come into our world and has come to our help.
Christmas is the feast of New Hope.
My prayer at this time is that we can open our minds and hearts to Christ and accept this new light into our lives.
