Ecumenical Service For World Suicide Prevention Day

WEDNESDAY 10th of September is designated 'World Suicide Prevention Day". An Ecumenical service of Remembrance and Hope will be held in the following locations on Wednesday 10th of September at 7.30 p.m.: The Church of the Assumption, Tullamore (for Laois & Offaly) and Christ the King Cathedral Mullingar Co. Westmeath (for Longford & Westmeath).

The Ecumenical service is organised by Midland Living Links (as part or their work in supporting the suicide bereaved) in conjunction with the HSE (as part of their work in suicide prevention). 

The Service of Remembrance and Hope will be an opportunity for people to come together as a community to show support for suicide prevention, to support those who have been bereaved by suicide and to give a message of hope for the future. The service will include participation from a number of the different Church Denominations and will comprise of Light, Prayer and Song

Every death by suicide is ultimately a tragic and profoundly devastating event than can and does impact on the lives of so many and consequently the prevention of suicide is a challenge which all of us in the community have to take part in. Everyone is welcome to attend the services and refreshments will be available afterwards providing a time for people to chat and support one another.
