Confirmation 2006

Confirmation Day is a day of joy for our Parish.

 We are happy to welcome Bishop Michael and thank him for his visit on this important day.  We welcome all our candidates for Confirmation and thank them for a very full participation in their preparation for this Sacrament.  In welcoming their parents and families, we extend a special welcome to families from other nations who live in our parish.  Their children have settled very well in our schools, and we hope that this will be a day of great joy for them.
I take this opportunity to thank our teachers for their continuing generous service in the instruction of the children in our schools, and their wholehearted support of our Confirmation programme.  A special word of thanks also to Sr Genny, who has devoted so many hours to organising the Confirmation Programme, with such energy and dedication.
We celebrate our Confirmation this year during the Easter season of joy.  We look forward to celebrating the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost.  Our celebration today celebrates that Holy Spirit in a special way.  We pray it will be a time of rich grace for all who are confirmed, and for their families.                           - Fr Sean Heaney PP

The Sacrament of Confirmation is conferred during two ceremonies each year in Tullamore parish.  The seven schools with sixth classes are divided as follows:

  Scoil Bhride                       }
Session 2-Scoil Eoin Phoil II, Durrow, St Philomena's}
  Gaelscoil Eisicr Riada         }   3.00pm
Each year the sessions alternate.

Heartfelt thanks is due to the teachers of the various schools, not just for their catechesis but for their painstaking efforts in putting this liturgy together.
