TROCAIRE - 3RD SUNDAY OF LENT

‘Trócaire would like to thank everyone for their huge generosity to the Haiti appeal. Donations from the Irish public have surpassed all expectations - €3,486,815. Thanks to this support Trócaire will help thousands of survivors to rebuild their lives in Haiti.

However, this Lent Trócaire reminds us that, while earthquakes and natural disasters attract global attention, there are millions of people around the world who will go to bed hungry tonight. During Lent over 600,000 children will die from hunger and diseases caused by hunger. The total number of people that were killed by the recent earthquake in Haiti, is less than half that number. This hunger crisis is taking place away from the TV cameras and global attention, in small, rural villages all over the developing world.
