The Birthday of the Church

As we are the Church and children of God, we are celebrating a very special day, honouring the gift of the Holy Spirit - the third person of the Blessed Trinity.

Not only is the Holy Spirit a gift but also the giver of gifts for our life's journey.  These have been introduced to us in Baptism, Confirmation, Confession and Eucharist and are as follows:
Wisdom, Understanding, Counsel, Knowledge, Piety and the Fear of the Lord.  We also have the fruits of the Spirit - Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Goodness and Kindness.

The Holy Spirit breathed the breath of life into the followers of Jesus and changed them into true apostles, who began to tell others about what Jesus said, did and who He was.

We are part of that community of love and we can do what the apostles did through the power of the Holy Spirit.

We call on the Holy Spirit today, to guide us in all of our life decisions.

"Send your Spirit ..... and renew the face of the earth."  Ps 103:30.
