HAVE FAITH
The apostles feel the mounting opposition to their master’s mission. They are tempted to despair. They ask him to increase their faith so that they can obey his words. Jesus uses the image of a tiny mustard seed to show them the power of even the smallest amount of faith. The suffering in our lives often makes us question the ways of God. We look for instant solutions to our problems and God so often seems to be silent that we feel helpless. The challenge for us today is to remain faithful to God and religious values, especially at times when they do not make sense. Whatever the evils of the world the person of faith will triumph because they are in harmony with God. So let us join with the apostles in asking Jesus for an increase of faith.

Nellie Gaffey, Ballykilmurray 7.30pm THE TWO WOLVES
In his talks during the Triduum, Fr Donal O’Leary told us of an Indian Chief instructing young men on how to live their lives. He told them that in every heart there are two wolves fighting: one the good caring, generous and friendly wolf, the other the bad, wicked and evil wolf. When a young man interjected: ‘But which wolf wins?’, the wise chief replied: ‘the one you feed most’. So, if we feed our grudges and resentments, our anger and bitterness, these characteristics will prevail. A worthwhile parable for reflection, we think.
