BE PREPARED In most events in life we discover how important it is to be prepared, the most significant for us being when God calls us to eternal life with Him. As it is our own Christian destiny, it calls us to prepare in a reflective and prayerful way in our daily lives. Our destiny is that we will rise again to new life after death as Jesus has promised. “…we believe that God will take back with Jesus those who have died believing in Him” (Thess 4:14). To reach our heavenly destination we must live our lives wisely and be aware of His daily calls to love and service, so that we will be prepared to go and be with Him. The five virgins in today’s parable took their extra flask of oil to prepare for the bridegroom who arrived late. Let our reflections, prayers and good works be the oil of faith that prepares us for that final call. Will we have finished the work that He gave us to do? TRAINING FOR NEW ALTAR SERVERS Training for new Altar Servers will be on Monday 13th at 6.00pm in Tullamore Church. I THOUGHT OF YOU TODAY I thought of you today but that is nothing new. I thought of you yesterday and days before that too. I think of you in silence, I often speak your name. All I have are memories and your pictures in a frame. Your memory is a keepsake from which I’ll never part. God has you in His arms, I have you in my heart. MASS FOR PARENTS WHO HAVE LOST A CHILD On Tuesday 21st at 7.30pm in the Church of the Assumption, we will support and pray for parents who have lost a child. At this Mass we will pray for all parents, family members and friends who have had to cope with the tragic and untimely death of their infant, child, teenager or adult son or daughter. We will remember with love and celebrate the lives of babies who have died before or around the time of birth. We also welcome parents who have undergone the trauma of abortion. All are most welcome. 40 HOURS ADORATION To celebrate the Solemnity of Christ the King this year, there will be 40 Hours Adoration in the Cathedral, beginning with Mass at 7:30 pm on Friday 24th and concluding with Solemn Vespers and Benediction at 4.00pm on Sunday 26th to which all are welcome. Our Parish has been allocated the time of: Saturday 25th 9-10pm While each parish of the diocese is assigned to a particular hour of adoration, people are in no way restricted to their parish's hour. It is hoped that people from the Diocese will come to the Cathedral during this time to pray. As part of the 40 Hours Devotion, Confessions will be heard in the Cathedral continually from 12 noon to 12 midnight on Saturday 25th. Bishop Deenihan has asked that prayers would be offered for the following intentions during the weekend: · for the children preparing for the Sacraments and for their families, that they may grow in love for Christ in the Eucharist; · for a return to the Eucharist in our parish communities; · for vocations to the priesthood and religious life in our Diocese. “Only in adoration, only in the presence of the Lord, do we truly rediscover our taste and passion for evangelization. Oddly enough, we have lost the prayer of adoration; and everyone, priests, bishops, consecrated men and women, need to recover it, this ability to be quiet in the Lord’s presence.” Pope Francis, World Youth Day 2023, Lisbon SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM Baptisms take place monthly on the first Sunday in Tullamore, second Sunday in Durrow, third and fourth Saturday in Tullamore.
