CONFESSIONS Saturday 2.00-3.00pm in the Day Chapel. OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST, KING OF THE UNIVERSE Today’s Gospel presents a familiar scene to us – the crucifixion of Our Lord Jesus Christ. There are several participants there. First mentioned were the ordinary people who had followed the procession of Jesus on His way to Calvary. They were silent now, watching Jesus. What were they thinking or expecting to happen? The Jewish leaders were there, jeering, mocking and abusing the crucified Jesus, challenging Him to save Himself. The soldiers there mocked Him too and uttered the same challenge. Above the cross, over the head of Jesus, they had fixed the inscription INRI – “Jesus the Nazarene, King of the Jews”, good for a laugh. Two criminals were hanging there as well, one on either side of Jesus. Even one of these jeered and mocked Jesus and, like the others, questioned his royal power. None of these understood that Jesus had come, not to save Himself, but to save all people. Jesus is the Saviour, the King of the Universe. The second criminal was enlightened and turned to Jesus, asked for forgiveness and a place in His Kingdom, and was saved. For those who, like the criminal, turn to Jesus, there will be a place in paradise. That’s what we must do: Fulfill our commitment to Jesus, turn with zeal to Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe. It will feature the Meath Diocesan Choir (Director Jim Walsh) along with local choirs from Durrow NS, Ballinamere NS, Sacred Heart School and Children’s Mass Group. Admission is free but there but there will be collection boxes available for voluntary contributions to go to nominated charities for Christmas. ADVENT INVITATION! PRAY AND MEDITATE WITH US We want to be closer to you this Advent season. Every week, during the four weeks of preparation for the feast of the Nativity of the Lord, we will post on our Youtube channel (Tullamore Parish) a short video (15 minutes), which will contain some prayers, a short reflection and some discussions about the Mass Readings. We hope it will be of great spiritual benefit to you! The holy readings that we will read, meditate on and discuss, can be found in the Magnificat. SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM Baptisms take place monthly on the first Sunday in Tullamore, second Sunday in Durrow, third and fourth Saturday in Tullamore. Contact the Parish Secretary.
