FOLLOW THE WAY OF THE RISEN JESUS All the readings today reference the many challenges we will encounter on our faith journey and thankfully most of us will not be called upon to make the choice that the mother and her sons had to make as related in the first reading. Central to our faith is not only living the message of Jesus but doing so in such a way that we reflect our belief in eternal life. This should happen and sustain us on our journey through life. By our baptism we have chosen to be disciples of Jesus in our ever changing world because His message and life are invitations to us to share eternal life in His presence. The message today, is that we should renew our commitment to Jesus by developing and deepening our relationship with Him. Let us have courage to bring His message to all around us and live our faith through love. NOTE OF APPRECIATION FROM FR KEVIN FLEMING It was a privilege and joy to serve and share life with the Communities of Tullamore and Durrow the past few years. Hope I didn’t obstruct your journey towards the God of all Life. Through the visiting of patients in the Hospital, Nursing Homes and especially the Centre's for special needs, I became deeply aware of the dedication and care of the staff of these institutions and how sacred is the life of each person. May we continue to pray for each other and pray that the News of God's Love and Hope will reach all people to the ends of the earth. Sincere Gratitude. Fr.Kevin Fr. Kevin has given dedicated service in this parish and he has now returned to his Columban community in Dalgan Park, Navan. We thank him for his kind and dedicated service among us and we wish him every blessing. 1ST COMMUNION RITUALS Our second ritual [Mass] in preparation for First Confession and First Communion is as follows: Saturday 12, 6.30pm St Joseph’s NS Sunday 13, 10.00am Ballinamere/Gaelscoil Eiscir Riada Sunday 13 11.30am Scoil Bhríde/Scoil Mhuire/Parish School. SEEING YOUR LIFE THROUGH THE LENS OF THE GOSPEL Luke 20:27-38 A common tactic in an argument is to make fun of the position of another. Then one does not have to take seriously the view being expressed. Have you ever found yourself doing this? Have you experienced others doing it with you? What are the effects of such an attitude? Is there life here? If not, where have you found a fuller life? Jesus’ use of the phrase ‘children of the resurrection’ to describe his followers, points to the fact that we believe in something that not be proven. Life can sometime present us with that kind of a challenge - an invitation to believe in things we cannot prove: another person, a cause, the value of a course of action, etc. What has been your experience of believing and acting on this kind of faith? At the heart of the Christian Faith is belief that death is not the end. We believe that the relationship we have with God, and the starts in His life, survives death and continues after death in the resurrection. In this month of November we recall those we have loved and have died. How has belief in the resurrection helped you in thinking about those you have loved and who are no longer with you?
