SEEING YOUR LIFE THROUGH THE LENS OF THE GOSPEL The cure of the lepers is not just a physical cure, It also brought the people healed back from exclusion into the community. Perhaps you have experienced the movement from exclusion to inclusion. What was it like for you to be accepted once again when you had felt excluded? Who were the ‘Jesus people’ for you who brought about this change? For whom, and how, have you been able to do this? Perhaps by healing a rift with a friend or by listening to the opinion of someone you had dismissed out of hand, or by opening the door to another in some other way? When we do good for another, we may not do it for the thanks we hope to get, yet it can hurt when no gratitude is shown. How have you experienced the positive effects of thanks given and received? Joe Gallagher and the Parish Team to ensure a positive experience for children taking part in parish activities. We have a safeguarding policy which is available from the parish office and we have various procedures which some of you may be familiar with. These include codes of behaviours for the children and the adults involved in parish activities, consent forms which parents sign before children participate in activities, adequate supervision and good recruitment practices. The parish representatives, together with Fr. Joe Gallagher, have been invited to update training in this work this autumn. The long period of lockdown in our parishes had far reaching consequences, one of which includes the decrease in children taking part in parish activities, even the basics, such as alter servers and junior readers. Bishop Deenihan is keen for normal parish life to resume. This safeguarding awareness day gives us an opportunity to focus on how best our parish can encourage children to have active ministries in our parish and to ensure they are both safe and welcome. We would like to acknowledge the children and young people who take part in our parish activities and hope they will continue to be part of our parish life. Thanks also to the volunteers and to the parents. Your enthusiasm, care and welcoming manner play a huge part in ensuring that children have a positive experience in our parish. SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM Baptisms take place monthly on the first Sunday in Tullamore, second Sunday in Durrow, third and fourth Saturday in Tullamore. Contact the Parish Secretary.
