SALVATION IS OPEN TO ALL

Being a follower of Jesus is not easy and for many of us it simply means listening to his message and celebrating the Eucharist weekly.  However, St Luke in his gospel suggests this is by no means enough.

Jesus leaves us in no doubt that if we really are serious about following Him we must try best at all ties “to enter by the narrow door”.  Yes, being a follower of Jesus presents us with many challenges and demands but the rewards are great.

We are called by Jesus to live our faith on a daily basis.  There will be occasions when we may struggle in our mission of living the gospel and it is on such occasions that we must renew our commitment to His message.  The promise of salvation is open to us all but the real question is our willingness to reach out and grasp it.

KILBRIDE CEMETERY

Prayers and Blessing of the Graves in Kilbride Church and Graveyard will take place on Saturday 27th at 7.00pm.  Fr. Joe Gallagher will officiate.  All are very welcome. There will be a gate collection to help towards maintenance costs of the graveyard on an annual basis.

DURROW BLESSING OF GRAVES

The blessing of graves in Durrow Cemetery will take place after the 11.30am Mass on Sunday 11th September.

SEEING YOUR LIFE THROUGH THE LENS OF THE GOSPEL Luke 13:22-30

The question put to Jesus is one that many still ask: ‘Will many be saved?’  In his answer Jesus is not concerned about numbers but warns his listeners about complacency. Just as his listeners could not regard the mere fact of being Jews as sufficient for salvation, neither can we regard being Christians as enough.  That entitlement will come from our acceptance of Jesus.  For any relationship to be alive – either with God or with another human person – the real question is ‘Is my heart in this relationship?’  What does your experience tell you of this?

‘Strive to enter by the narrow door’. Jesus himself is on his journey to Jerusalem, purposeful and determined.  His true followers will also be purposeful and determined.  That is true in any journey, career, or relationship if there is to be growth or progress.  Do you ever find that you have lost your enthusiasm for life and become a bit bored?  What can you do to recover some of the enthusiasm you once had?
