We deferred making any decisions in the hope that it might be possible to have our usual celebrations. It is now clear that such celebrations are not possible this year so we have decided that the priests of the parish will bless the graves in Clonminch, Durrow and Kilbride cemeteries during the coming week. A Mass for all who are buried in our cemeteries will be celebrated in Tullamore Church on Saturday next, 3rd of October at 5pm. Tickets will be available in the Parish Centre, with the usual limit of 150 persons. However, all may watch the Mass on the parish webcam and we ask you to notify your relatives who live away from Tullamore, of this Mass.
SEEING YOUR LIFE THROUGH THE LENS OF THE GOSPEL MATTHEW 21:28-32 Is it possible to be a dutiful and observant Christian, and yet feel there is something missing? Does it not make a huge difference when your heart is in what you are doing? It is so much better than just going through the motions. Where do you experience that most in your life? The desire of Jesus for us is that we grow in that kind of committed, enthusiastic involvement in life. What encourages you to grow in this way? Recall times when your relationship with God, or with another person, was something that gave you energy, hope or joy. What lessons do you learn from those memories? The elders probably thought well of themselves in contrast to the tax collectors and sinners. Perhaps you know some unconventional people, ones who appear to ignore the ‘right’ way of doing things, and yet they have taught you something about true goodness. John Byrne OSA, Intercom September 2020 SUPPORTING OUR BROTHERS AND SISTERS IN THE HOLY LAND The Holy Father has asked parishes across the world to support the annual collection for Christians in the Holy Land. In previous years, this collection took place on Good Friday, but because of Covid and the closure of churches, it was deferred to September. This collection is used to support Christian families in the Holy Land. The political situation, much less the Covid pandemic, has impacted hugely on their livelihoods. In addition, Pilgrimages to the Holy Land which were a source of indirect economic assistance have not been possible this year. Parishioners wishing to offer financial assistance to the plight of Christians in the Holy Land can make a contribution at the Parish Centre. FIRST HOLY COMMUNION Congratulations to the children from Ballinamere, Gaelscoil Eiscir Riada & Parish School who received the Eucharist for the first time last weekend. We wish God’s blessing on them, their families, friends and teachers and all who helped them on their faith journey at this special time.
