Parish Activities

CHURCH GROUNDS CAR PARK:
As we are all aware, the Church grounds have a very limited amount of space available to those motorists who wish to pray or attend services in the Church.
In recent times, however, and increasingly so, some people use the Church grounds to park their cars when working or shopping.  We would love to be able to accommodate these people too, but it is quite impossible.
It means that those who wish to use the Church grounds for worship, especially funerals, weddings or baptisms, are prevented from doing so.
During the course of the last two years we have appealed to people not to use the Church grounds unless attending a service or praying.
We made periodic public announcements at Masses, placed a clear notice in the Church grounds and put flyers on cars, but the problem has remained.
To address this issue, the Parish Pastoral Council has decided to close the Church grounds to all traffic after 11.00am, Monday to Friday.
This will commence on Monday 17th January.
This step has been taken with some reluctance and regret but there seems to be little option.

TSUNAMI APPEAL:
Last weekend, parishioners were asked to contribute to the appeal to help those who had suffered as a result of the Tsunami.
Last Friday a cheque was sent to Bishop Smith for the  remarkable amount of €66781.83 - and money is still coming in!
We wish to thank you all for contributing such an extraordinary amount to help those who need it so much at this time.
