This week two local girls published their first ever G.A.A. themed book for children "Andy Ash".

Andy Ash loves nothing more than playing hurling with his Under 10 team. He's a very good hurler too, but there's one thing he's not so good at and that's losing. In this humorous rhyming tale, Andy learns that there's more to sport than winning at all costs and that sometimes you have to learn how to lose to become a star.

The story was written by Julianne McKeigue and illustrated by Laura Guinan. Julianne is originally from Spollenstown and is now working in Dublin. She has already begun work on further ideas for the Andy Ash series.

Laura Guinan is originally from Ballydaly and teaches in Edenderry. She is a keen sports fan and plays camogie, Ladies Football and soccer.

The book was launched to a great reception by Offaly star Johnny Dooley at Ryans Bookshop on High Street and we are delighted to bring you some photos from the event.

You can find out more about their first book and order it online at http://www.andyashpress.com
