Eucharistic Adoration Anniversary Celebration.

The 14th anniversary of Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration in Tullamore parish was celebrated with Mass, adoration and Benediction in The Church of The Assumption on Thursday 25th September. The celebrant was Father Shane Crombie who was also celebrating the third anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood on that same day, so you could say that we were doubly blessed. It was a spiritually uplifting occasion, helped in no small way by the combined musical gifts of John Gilligan, organist, and Dave Sheridan tenor. The readings from Saint Paul to the Corinthians and the prayers of the faithful were delivered by Pat.  Michael carried the basket of prayer requests from the Hospital Chapel, with Cathleen and Hillary bearing the bread and wine in the offertory procession.  Fr. Shane in his homily spoke about the gift of Eucharistic Adoration in the parish – with ongoing prayer – as people go about their daily lives and the importance of just being present with the Lord in the Blessed Sacrament.  On a personal level he shared emotively about giving thanks every day of his life for the gift of the priesthood and to quote: “It wasn’t always easy”.The Mass, Adoration and Benediction were enriched by the Latin chants and hymns – particularly the Pater Noster, O Salutaris and Tantum Ergo which are so seldom heard nowadays.  The song Te Deum by Fr. Shane during Benediction was an echo from monasteries and religious everywhere and was a heavenly encounter.Sincere thanks to all who attended or participated in this liturgy.Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration takes place in the Hospital chapel, Tullamore where there is a constant presence of committed adorers and visitors day and night.  In the midst of our hectic and busy world it is an oasis of peace. There is an ongoing need for new adorers because of absences due to illness, family commitments etc.   If you would consider making a commitment to one hour of Adoration each week, we would be happy to hear from you at 057 93 21232 where hopefully an hour suitable to your needs can be arranged.
