82nd  Corpus Christi Procession in Tullamore
1927 - 2008

The feast of Corpus Christi will be celebrated next Sunday 25th May and the committee organising the Tullamore Procession would like to thank all the organisations, prayer groups, clubs and schools who have contacted them, if your prayer group, school or organisation have not registered yet they will be very welcome on the day.
This will be the 81st procession for the parish of Tullamore and the organisers are confident the renewed interest of recent years will continue.
Parishioners are requested to assemble at 4.30 pm in Store Street. The Procession will commence at
5 pm sharp. Leaving the Church by the Store Street entrance the Procession then proceeds via Store Street, Harbour Street, William Street, Church Street, Henry Street, Harbour Street, and return to the Church by the Store Street entrance for Solemn Benediction.
There is a tradition whereby householders and business premises on the route put up flags, bunting and religious objects, it is hoped this will be upheld this year, not only on the route, but also all around the parish.
A special welcome is extended to former parishioners and members of surrounding parishes who do not have a Procession, to all who were in any way connected with the Parish of Tullamore, and to all with an interest in this great feast. The committee request residents to pass this information on to family members and friends who no longer live in the town.
The continued success of the Procession is due to the support of the Clergy, Religious, and Parishioners; it is by the public display of faith that the procession continues to thrive.
The Corpus Christi Procession is documented as having started in the year 1279 and since then has spread to all parts of the world as a way for the faithful to profess their faith in a public and prayerful way, long may it continue to be so.
