Offaly Age Friendly County Strategy

The Offaly Age Friendly County Strategy was launched by Anna May McHugh at a function in Tullamore Court Hotel on Friday 29th. June. In the foreword to the strategy Offaly C.E.O. , Anna Marie Delaney, says "The population of Offaly, as is the case with the rest of Ireland, is ageing. A population with up to 1 in 4 people over the age of 60 years in the very near future will have significant social and economic implications at an individual, family and societal level. The implications for policy makers and service providers across Offaly in areas as diverse as housing, health, urban and rural planning, transport, policing, education and the business environment are considerable.

This strategy is the result of a process which began when Offaly signed the Dublin Declaration on Age Friendly Cities and Communities in Europe (2013) and in so doing committed itself to support the creation of an inclusive, equitable society in which older people across Offaly can live full, active, valued and healthy lives."
