  SIGNPOSTS

“I am the Way the Truth and the Life.  No one can come to the Father except through me,” says Jesus.  What a consoling thought in this week’s Gospel, when Jesus shows us the way to the Father.

There are no signposts however as we know them.  His “way” cannot be found on any map.  The love, compassion and mercy, as seen in the life of Jesus, are the signposts.

He shows us how to follow him through his miracles, his parables, especially his resurrection stores.  We follow him we reach our full potential as human beings by using our God-given talents.

We reach our final destination in the company of our fellow travellers, with whom we gather to pray and who support us on our journey.

The fragrance always stays in the hand that gives the rose,

FINANCIAL STATEMENT

The Financial Statement covering the year 2007 is available as you leave the Church today.  Please take a copy.  The main point of the report is that the Parish had a small surplus at the end of the year, which means that we have lived within our means.  The amount of the Envelope Collection and the Plate Collection is considerably up on 2006, and this represents a generous response from parishioners to our needs.  For your generosity we thank you most sincerely.

Many people have also increased their contributions for the building of our new Parish Centre.  These contributions are not shown in the accounts, but they will be included in a full statement when the Centre is completed.  Paying for our Centre will be a drain on Parish finances for a number of years ahead, but we are confident that the Parish can handle the debt, and that the Centre will prove a worthwhile investment.

Once again, we appeal to all PAYE contributors to join our Tax Rebate Scheme, which is proving a valuable source of revenue to the Parish.  If you have any difficulty with the Scheme details outlined in the letters sent out to you, please contact the Parish Office as soon as possible.

Overall, our Report is positive and encouraging, and we thank all who have been so generous in their kind support of all our undertakings.
