ALL SAINTS

A line in a very old song called “Father O’Flynn” goes: ‘of priests there’s a charming variety’.  The same can be said of saints.  Today’s feast of “All Saints” invites us to celebrate, not just the saints who are canonized, but also “our own folk”.  We are to take pride in our people who have enriched the Church with their quiet witness.  Their lives were lived unnoticed and their names are not known.  But Jesus knows their names - they are His people, His saints.

We thank God for saints we have known and know - people who attend the hungry, the aged, the marginalized.  We thank Him for those who keep loving and forgiving with an energy worthy of God.  They are among us still and maybe we are lucky enough to be part of the same crowd - ordinary people
“You can meet them in school, or in lanes, or at sea, Or in Church, or in trains, or in shops, or at tea”.

Even if you’re on the right track, you’ll get run over if you just sit there.

ALL SOULS

Tomorrow, Monday 2nd, is the Feast of All Souls.  Masses are as follows: Tullamore 7.45am, 10.00am & 7.30pm; Durrow 8.00pm.
All Masses offered Monday 2nd, Tuesday 3rd and Wednesday 4th, as well as all First Friday Masses, will be offered for all those on the Lists of the Dead.

MASS FOR BEREAVED

On Saturday 7th, the 10.00am Mass will be offered for all our parishioners who have lost a loved one during the past year, and all our bereaved.

SEEING YOUR LIFE THROUGH THE LENS OF THE GOSPELS
Matthew 5:1-12

1 The blessings in the Beatitudes are primarily future blessings, but there can be an anticipation of the blessings in the present. At first reading, some Beatitudes may seem to describe circumstances that you would like to avoid at all costs. Read them slowly. Stay with each one for a while. Let yourself get a sense of the paradox involved in each one. Perhaps you have had an experience of a deeper and more authentic life, a blessing, when:

• you were poor – you knew your need of God;
• you mourned – could feel for others;
• you were meek – not emotionally out of control;
• you hungered and thirsted for some cause;
• you were merciful rather than vengeful;
• you were pure in heart – a person of integrity, whose actions and intentions correspond;
• you were a peacemaker;
• you were persecuted because you stood for something.
