THE SOLEMNITY OF THE MOST HOLY TRINITY

The words of Moses in the first reading describe us today as perfectly as they describe the Jews in the desert so many centuries ago: “True, they are a headstrong people”. Yet, how was it that he who needed nothing, who was all in all, who had infinite equals in the Son and the Spirit, who were one with him—How was it that he created all of us, but from simple love of us from eternity? And why, when we turn our backs on him because we are so headstrong, does he forgive us our faults and our sins?

Surely, God has adopted us as his heritage. Baptised in the Spirit, we confess our faith in the Son of God, in whom the unbounded love of the Father for the world reveals itself. “God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not be lost”. To receive Christ, as Saviour, is to be saved; to refuse him is to condemn oneself.

Our efforts to grow perfect, to help one another, to be united, to live in peace-- which mark us out as Christians, also reveal the mystery of the Trinity: everything comes from the love of the Father, by the grace of the Son, in the fellowship of the Holy Spirit.

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION

Congratulations to the children from Parish School who received the Eucharist for the first time last Sunday. We wish God’s blessing on them, their families, friends and teachers and all who helped them on their faith journey to this special time.

CORPUS CHRISTI PROCESSION

Tullamore Parish annual Corpus Christi Procession takes place after 6.30pm Mass on Saturday 17th June. This year marks our 90th procession through the town.

Weather permitting the procession will exit the main door of the Church on to Store St, passing through Harbour St, Columcille St, Kilbeggan Bridge, Convent View, Puttaghaun and end with Benediction in Connolly Park.

A mini bus will be available to bring elderly people back to the church to collect cars after Benediction.

All parishioners and parish groups are encouraged to get involved and attend this lovely public celebration of the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist.

MONTHS MEMORIES AND 1ST ANNIVERSARY MASSES

Over the last 18 months there have been a large number of funerals in the parish. This has had a knock on effect on Month’s Memory and First Anniversary Masses. Both of these are important moments in grief.

In order to avoid causing families undue stress, having to wait months to mark these moments, two intentions will be combined on Saturday night and 11.30am and 1.00pm Sunday Masses. This applies only to Months Memories and First Anniversaries.
