During the Last Supper Jesus explained to his apostles that he couldn’t teach them everything because it would be too  much for them. But the Holy Spirit would come and lead them to the truth. It is the love of the Father who gives us his Son while the Holy Spirit is leading us to know more of the truth.

The three divine persons came together at the Ressurrection. The Spirit joined the Father and Son in their never ending presence to the end of time. In 1425, Andrew Rublev, a Russian monk painted an icon of the Trinity based on Genisis (18:1 - 5) when Abraham welcomes three travellers to rest and share a meal around a table. There is an open space at the table. It is an invite to each of us to take our place at their table to share their meal and their lives.

The table of the Eucharist is a permanent reminder of the readiness of the three divine persons to receive us and to share their love with us. We need to keep in mind the table to which they invite us and we invite them. There is receiving and there is sharing and giving.

In the name of the Father and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Pope Francis Grants Indulgences for WMOF2018 Pilgrims

Pope Francis has granted the gift of plenary indulgences on the occasion of the World Meeting of Families 2018. The indulgences will be extended to attending pilgrims who participate at events during WMOF2018, including the Closing Mass in the presence of Pope Francis.

Those who are unable to be physically present and are following events from afar may also obtain the plenary indulgence if, ‘united in spirit and in thought with the faithful present in Dublin’ they prayerfully participate, particularly in the Holy Father’s broadcast words and messages.

Partial indulgences will be granted to those who participate in and extend their own prayers for families.

Tullamore Parish Annual Corpus Christi Procession takes place after 6.30pm Mass on Saturday June 2nd. This year marks our 91st procession through the town.

Weather permitting the procession will exit the main door of the Church on to Store Street, passing through Harbour Street, on to Daingean Road and end with Benediction in Whitehall Estate.

A mini bus will be available to bring elderly people back to the Church to collect cars after Benediction.

All parishoners and Parish groups are encouraged to get involved and attend this lovely public celebration of the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist.

Congratulations to the children from St. Josephs who received the Eucharist for the first time last Sunday. We wish God’s blessing on them, their families, friends and teachers and all who helped them on their faith journey to this special time.
